Volvo's XC60 SUV plays in the small luxury SUV market, but it cleverly makes its own identity with its signature mix of simple Scandinavian styling and purposeful but well-equipped interior design. A lot of modern Volvo features, like the Thor's Hammer headlights and the curved Nordic form of the front seats, help make it stand out. The XC60 comes with two powertrains: the 247-hp B5 and the 455-hp T8 plug-in hybrid. The B5 has enough thrust, but the T8 PHEV is more fuel-efficient and can speed up much more quickly. The XC60 has a fairly clear steering response and good grip for an SUV, but it doesn't have the performance-focused and sporty personality of cars like the Porsche Macan and BMW X3. The Audi Q5 has more room for cargo, which is more useful in everyday life. The infotainment system in Volvo cars is built on Google. It does its job, but it could be easier to use. Still, the XC60 is a well-rounded and interesting choice in a crowded market.

What's Different in 2025?
Not a lot. The XC60 was updated just last year, and it will be mostly the same in 2025, with a few small trim name changes. The Ultimate trim from last year is now called Ultra, and Volvo's plug-in hybrid cars are no longer called Recharge.
