Thank goodness I didn't spray down my entire garden with my first brew of compost tea. What a learning experience this has been. To make compost tea properly you really should have aeration pump to keep the aerobic environment that the beneficial bacteria and micro organisms need to grow and thrive. In absence of that I chose to stir my brew frequently throughout the day. So what were the main facts I learned about compost tea:

1) Compost tea should have an aerobic environment
2) Compost tea should only brew between 24-36 hrs
3) 1-2 cups of kitchen compost is all you need to brew a 5 gallon bucket of compost
4) Dilution ration should be less thank 50% compost tea, many that use it more regularly in their gardens dilute it to a 10% compost tea ratio.

As an added tip it can be applied to the soil directly or used sprayed directly on the leaves. Benefits to soil added beneficial micro organisms and nematodes. Benefits of leaf spray is quicker uptake of the nutrients to the plants.
