Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez were involved in a dramatic crash during the penultimate lap of the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. As they battled for a podium spot, Sainz overtook Perez after Turn 1, but in a bid to reclaim his position, Perez made contact with the rear of Sainz’s Ferrari while they were side by side on the straight heading to Turn 3. Both cars were sent into the wall, ending their races. Despite the intensity of the collision, the FIA stewards ruled it a racing incident, with neither driver predominantly at fault.
