African grey parrots come in two subspecies: the Congo African grey and the Timneh African grey, each with unique traits.
Timneh African Greys are smaller, they have a dark grey body, dark feet, and a dark burgundy tail.
Congo African Greys are larger, they have a light grey body, light grey feet and a very distinct, bright red tail.
The Congo grey parrot has a dark black beak. The Timneh grey parrots have dark horn colored or pink colored upper beak with a black tip.
Both have outstanding talking/mimicking abilities, both can make wonderful companions. Both the Timneh and Congo are extremely intelligent species. They will be successful in a home that offers activities, attention, structured training and interactive caging.
