Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy (ESWT) is a safe, simple, and effective treatment for foot and heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis.
We use a high-end German Storz unit which produces radial shockwaves. Radial shockwaves are equally as effective as focused shockwaves in the treatment of plantar fasciitis, but are much less painful, and do not require local anesthetics to be injected into the foot.
Shockwave therapy can be uncomfortable, but is tolerated well. There is no downtime following the treatment. A typical treatment takes 5-10 minutes. Most patients experience a significant improvement in their pain and activity levels within 1-6 visits. The results are durable and generally do not have to be repeated for many years.
