New form of workflow here which is ironically in the box.
Have become obsessed with Roland cloud D-50 emulation.
This synth has been made famous by countless soundtracks from the 80s and 90s, most notably for the 1988 martial arts classic 'Bloodsport'.
Have made a few cues that I am very happy with.
This session is a composition session to get down phrasing, ideas, and also patch combinations.
Nerd notes: I am running 16 simultaneous instances of the D-50 that are all active on Ableton, I have each of the volumes mapped via midi so I can create blend modes according to to style and dynamics of the section.
I have two groups that are mapped to master control so I can blend the groups together. This takes such a small hit on the CPU, was running 16 at once, and wasn't even touching 6-7%. So theoretically I could map 8 groups of 8 sounds and have a mega D-50 blend patch - sort of going for a similar workflow to what Vangelis had with his station that accommodated his playing. All this before I have even touched my hardware synths. I think I got the workflow for Televisual live performance, my dudes. Combo of mega D-50 patch from the comp, mixed with Rev2 DSI, Hydrasynth and Korg Wavestate. That will do me. Need some kind of drum solution, the Model:Samples isn't bad but its a little limited.
I thought id add a few visual flavours over the top - images sourced from SeanStle
