‘No part of me is a mistake’ — This brave 12-year-old who came out to her church was cut off and asked to sit down.

In US news and current events today, this LGBTQ Pride Month 2020, we celebrate 2020 Pride Month by honoring the trailblazers who fought for LGBTQ+ rights and LGBT rights all around the world. We take some LGBTQ rights for granted here in America, even though we still have much progress to make. The Church has not been the friendliest place to LGBTQ+ people, and religion in general has long been at odds with the LGBTQ community. However, that can change. This 12-year-old was silenced when she decided to come out of the closet in front of her church, as her microphone was turned off and she was ordered to sit during during her coming out speech. However, she would not be deterred, and serves as an inspiration for others who want to comes out. The girl coming out to church is a reminder than many religions and religious institutions are still suppressive and regressive when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights, but as this coming out video shows, it's never to late or too early to stand up for your truth.
