Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is produced from organic materials like wood waste, food and agricultural waste, and even human waste.
“How we use and dispose of resources has a huge impact on the environment,” says Holly Stirnkorb, senior solid waste planner at Metro-Portland. “This [waste] is going to be used to create renewable natural gas that can then be used to heat your home or potentially to fuel your vehicle. That can help motivate people to make the change, and also feel like they’re having a positive impact.”
