Saraswati Puja is celebrated on the fifth day (Panchami Tithi) of the Shukla Paksh of the Hindu month of Magha. This day is also known as Basant Panchmi. Goddess Saraswati is worshiped for knowledge, culture, wisdom, music and art. It is believed that worshiping Goddess Saraswati in the bright fortnight of the month of Magha (fifth day) is of immense importance.
At the end of Saraswati Puja, idols of goddess saraswati are carried in a procession by people towards a water body and immersed thereafter.
