Pura Mengening was built in the 17th century and it is considered one of the most important temples in Bali. It is said to have been built to guard against evil spirits and ensure a good harvest. The temple is dedicated to the god of water, Dewa Tirta Empul, and it is believed that the spring water at the temple has healing powers. There are also several myths and legends associated with the temple, including one that states that the spring water at the temple was created by the god Indra, to cleanse the body and soul of anyone who bathes in it. When visiting Pura Mengening, guests can expect to appreciate gorgeous architecture, immerse themselves in meaningful cultural and spiritual experiences, and absorb the tranquil and secluded atmosphere. They will have the chance to get an understanding of the temple's history and its importance to Balinese culture.
There are beautiful gardens and lush vegetation, treating visitors to stunning views of the area. Just keep in mind that Pura Mengening is a place of worship and to be mindful of their dress code and adhere to cultural and religious etiquette. We really enjoyed our opportunity to participate in a cleansing ritual in the Holy Spring's healing waters.
