When we finish discussing the 3 prompts, I will talk about how this question type is scored. This question type affects your literacy and production subscores, but we will break this down even further to include factors such as vocabulary, grammar and fluency.
This question type can be challenging, but when you realize that you can break this task down into a manageable plan, it really doesn’t have to be as daunting. This type of academic writing is just a matter of practice. Writing ability improves the more you do it, and through this practice, you will also gain confidence.

To prepare for the Duolingo English Test, I recommend that you practice the sample tests provided on the DET website. I also recommend that you practice reading English regularly by reading news articles, blog posts, and even Wikipedia articles. To practice listening in English, you should listen to podcasts, watch news, or even TV shows—anything that will hold your interest! To practice speaking, you can read aloud or practice with anyone willing to speak with you in English!
