Goolgoolas are a firm favourite with everyone, perfect with a hot cup of tea in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon or at any time really!
Almost like the Indian version of a donut, but here in South Africa, it's more like a mini vetkoek or magwinya, just sweeter and with no yeast!
Ingredients:
2 cups of self raising flour
1 1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup castor sugar
1/2 cup desiccated coconut (optional)
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
For frying:
2 cups of oil
2 tbs ghee
For cinnamon sugar mix 1/4 tsp cinnamon per 1tbs of sugar
