COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC) - A judge sentenced a Cincinnati woman to 17 months in prison for billing the state for 6,882 hours she never worked. The judge also ordered Felicia Betts to pay back $214,957 in restitution to the Ohio Department of Medicaid.
Betts pleaded guilty on Feb. 19 to Medicaid fraud, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.
Betts was an independent licensed practical nurse who worked overnights with a juvenile Medicaid recipient.
The parents discontinued the overnight care in June 2016 but Betts kept billing the state for the work for eight hours at a time. Then from September 2016 through April 2018 she upped the billing to 12 hours a day.
Betts is no longer able to receive any Medicaid reimbursements.
