Public Protector Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane, says her decision to challenge the Constitutional Court's ruling that set aside her report on President Cyril Ramaphosa's CR17 campaign, is to protect the future and integrity of the Public Protectors office. On Friday Mkhwebane applied to the Apex court for a rescission. This after the ConCourt rejected her appeal against the North Gauteng High Court's ruling to set aside her report on the CR17 election campaign in the Bosasa investigative report.
The Public Protector says she hopes the court can act in the interest of justice and protect the integrity of her office and not allow personal views to interfere with the principal of law.
Our reporter, Patricia Visagie spoke to the Public Protector ADV Busisiwe Mkhwebane, where she emphisised that her action is simply aimed at correcting an error in law.
