The Jews use a Yiddish word called “Fargin” which should be used in every language...
It means finding joy in others’ success.
And I feel when all of us wish for more money, and better health, and better job opportunities, more fulfilling work, better relationships...
We all are coming from a place of wanting something that we don’t have.
But think of someone who is genuinely happy for others... it’s someone who is secure, who does not feel like you winning means they’ve lost... they don’t believe in a zero sum game...
They believe that if you could get something, they can too... maybe not immediately, but the universe may find its own way to make it happen...
And I feel that’s the best thing one can wish for themselves and for others.
Because when we all can be happy for the joys of others, we can genuinely be grateful, optimistic, and full of life and fulfilment.
So anytime you can sense yourself feeling bad or jealous about anothers’ achievements, immediately switch on the Fargin switch in your brains...
It’s the smallest step towards a more positive mindset... and it’ll now form part of all birthday and congratulatory messages I send :)
