The IPBES-IPCC co-sponsored workshop on biodiversity and climate change, held 14-17 December 2020, marks the first collaboration between IPBES and IPCC.

The workshop, initially planned as a meeting to be held in London, hosted by the Government of the United Kingdom with additional sponsorship by the Government of Norway, has been held as a virtual meeting.

Lord Zac Goldsmith, the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Pacific and the Environment, and Maren Hersleth Holsen, the Norwegian State Secretary in the Ministry of Climate and the Environment, provided remarks during the opening session, alongside Dr. Hoesung Lee, IPCC Chair and Dr. Anne Larigauderie, IPBES Executive Secretary, as well as Workshop Scientific Steering Committee Co-Chairs, Hans-Otto Pörtner and Robert Scholes.
