While Mike Compton was in the Peghead Nation studio recording lessons for his popular Monroe-Style Mandolin course, he played this solo version of “Avalon Blues,” written by Mississippi musicians William Thomas Narmour (fiddle) and Shellie Walton Smith (guitar), who were active performing and recording as “Narmour and Smith” in the late 1920s and 1930s. Mike recorded a great duo version of this song with Norman Blake on their Galloup to Georgia album, a great collection of Narmour and Smith tunes. [ Ссылка ]
