LRTI क्या होता है | Lower Respiratory Tract Infection | Lung Infection
In this informative video, Dr. Priyanka uncovers what a lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) is and why asthma patients can catch this infection quickly. LRTI is a difficult condition, but with this video, you will learn exactly what it is and how to reduce your chances of infection.
Lower Respiratory Tract Infection (LRTI) is a common occurrence in patients aged 40 to 50 who have been dealing with asthma for a long time.
This infection occurs when bacterial or viral infections in the lungs flourish, leading to high-grade fever, cold, cough, difficulty breathing, and mucus production. The condition remains in the patient's body for at least seven to ten days.
To prevent LRTI, it is essential to understand the normal functioning of the respiratory tract, which is divided into the right and left bronchus. The cilia, hair-like structures in the respiratory tract, remove dust and dirt particles inhaled due to pollution.
However, in asthma patients, the production of mucus is high, causing the mucus to get stuck inside the respiratory tract, which traps dust or dirt particles and allows bacteria and viruses to multiply and develop. This creates an infection and makes asthma symptoms worse.
To reduce the chances of infection, proper management of asthma triggers and symptoms and preventive measures like using masks become important. Whether it is cold or warm, always drink hot or lukewarm water, and avoid cold water altogether. This helps prevent the trapping and growth of bacteria and viruses.
