After being hassled by the police in Oakland, California, African-American musician Sunru Carter decided to 'repatriate' himself to Ghana. He retraced the journey of his great-grandfather who had been enslaved in Ghana; sold in Charlottesville, Virginia; and taken to work on the plantation of James Monroe, 5th President of the United States.
