C/U of a cup and saucer decorated with a dainty blue floral design. A woman's hand picks up a spoon and stirs her tea. We are about to be introduced to the largest collection of spoons in the world! It is the collection of Mr Herbert Hieser (sp?) of Baker Street.
C/Us of a loving-spoon from 17th Century Flanders. L/S of Mr Hieser showing a female visitor a "chain spoon" from central Africa carved from one piece of wood. C/U of the woman's face as she studies the strange spoon then C/U of the spoon itself. M/S of another visitor to the collection surveying a display case of spoons. She picks one out to look at. C/U of the spoon which is made of shell - it is from Indochina. M/S of the girl looking at the spoon. She places it back in the case then walks on to look at more spoons. "Fetishes and idols are often carved on native spoons" like an example from the Philippines which we see the visitor examining. The first girl featured looks at an ivory spoon from the Congo. C/U of the spoon being turned around in the girl's hand then C/U of her smiling. She turns and replaces the spoon.
C/Us of various spoons including one made of the skull of a Borneo monkey. One of the spoons is a Czarist (Tsarist?) Russian soup spoon inlaid with silver and a dragon's head carving from Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Other spoons are shown including a nest of spoons from Persia (Iran) - four interlocking spoons. Camera pans across a wall mounted display of spoons from Africa which are worn in the hair.
