In the Spirit of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. we are once again commemorating the anniversary of his “Breaking the Silence” speech from April 4, 1967. This year the National Council of Elders (NCOE) is excited be taking part in an intergenerational live webinar from Philadelphia that Reverend Donna Jones--an NCOE member and the leading force behind the Restorative Cities Initiative (RCI) in Philadelphia is coordinating with young activists. RCI is a coalition of neighbors and community hubs in Philadelphia working to spread restorative practices that promote peace from "the porch to City Hall." The webinar is at the beginning of a weekend gathering that will connect youth and elders engaged in healing justice and global solidarity work by naming fissures, rebuilding relationships, sharing toolkits, and fortifying the foundation for collective action in our respective local, national, and global organizing efforts.
