In observance of U.S. Constitution Day 2023, University of Maine at Farmington Professor of Political Science James P. Melcher delivered his 17th Annual Supreme Court Preview and Review on the UMF campus. Melcher was introduced by UMF President Joseph McDonnell. Professor Melcher discussed key cases that will come before the Supreme Court this term, including: Trump v. U.S. (Presidential immunity), Trump v. Anderson (on denying Donald Trump ballot access), Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo (Chevron deference), Garland v. Cargill/U.S. v. Rahimi (gun cases). The final part of Melcher's talk featured questions from the audience.
