Foster care is meant to be a temporary placement for children while we work toward returning them to their biological family. That time varies, but on average, a foster child could live in your home anywhere between 12 months and two years. But it is really unique to each child. In some cases, when children can't be returned to their family, they will become available for adoption which may extend the length of time they are in foster care.
