At 80 years of age, David Suzuki is undeniably one of our country’s most prominent and influential Canadians. Throughout his career as an academic, broadcaster and environmentalist, Suzuki has advocated for a sustainable society that respects all species and is based on science, social justice and democracy.
As the host of The Nature of Things, since 1979, Suzuki is a household name for many, and has seemingly always been there to narrate our relationship with the natural world and each other. Through film and conversation, this public event celebrated Suzuki’s life and impact, and explored the pressing issues and opportunities of our time. UWinnipeg Associate Professor and renowned filmmaker Dr. Ian Mauro interviewed Suzuki in front of a live audience at the MET Theatre in Winnipeg Manitoba.
Suzuki was in Winnipeg to receive an Honorary Doctorate at the University of Winnipeg. The event took place on October 15, 2015.
