(26 Oct 2015) Pakistani civil and military authorities mounted rescue operations in the northwest of the country on Monday, trying to reach remote areas impacted by the Afghan earthquake.
Roads along the Kaghan Valley in the Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were cracked by the 7.5 magnitude quake, which had its epicentre in Afghanistan, but shook buildings from Kabul to Delhi.
Pakistani officials say the number of dead in their country from the Afghan earthquake has risen to 145, bringing the overall total to at least 180.
Inayatullah Khan, Pakistan's provincial minister, says the death toll from earthquake in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province alone has has jumped to 121.
