The village of Alto de Buenos Aires is located in the municipality of Puerto Berrio, in Colombia. A place with a cocoa vocation that for more than 70 years has developed agriculture around this fruit that the Mayans and Aztecs called the food of the gods. Its 600 meters above sea level, its climate and geography make it an ideal place for growing cocoa.
We visited the family business, Chocolates Buenos Aires, to learn about their experience in the process of growing cloned cocoa, a propagation of the fruit that is made by grafting in order to guarantee a good genotype of the tree that allows the production of better quality chocolate.
