"It is with deep sorrow that we heard about the tragic incident related to the Samjhauta Express, the train which was coming from Delhi India to Lahore in Pakistan. We are very saddened that over 60 Pakistanis have lost their lives, and an equal number are injured. Pakistan condemns this incident and we hope that the investigations which will be conducted by the Indian authorities is shared with us. Terrorism is a scourge we all have to fight collectively and this incident should not in any way hamper the peace process which is going on between the two countries. In Pakistan the government has asked the Pakistan airport to keep a plane ready to evacuate people back to Pakistan from India along with a medical team so that they can be brought back to, closer to their next of kin. I am also announcing cash compensation for those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured, and we will do whatever we can to alleviate the suffering of the people from this tragic tragedy. "

7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Khursheed Kasuri, Pakistani Foreign Minister:
"It's a horrendous act of terrorism which everybody would condemn unreservedly. Innocent men and woman have lost their lives. In fact I saw the picture of a woman I cannot forget about half an an hour ago. She had 5 children, all of them are dead. Most of the dead are Pakistanis but I would like to reserve my comment. We would like the Indian government to investigate this incident and we are waiting for the results of those investigations. We have instructed the High Commission in Delhi to move to the site of the incident so that they can provide any help that is required."
8. SOUNDBITE: (English) Khursheed Kasuri, Pakistani Foreign Minister:
"Well the timing is very very, I suppose it is indicative of the minds that did it. I will be leaving tomorrow for Delhi to further the peace process. I don't think the government of India or Pakistan would, or definitely should not to allow this incident to, or the perpetrators of this incident to achieve their objectives, in fact if at all we should hasten the peace process and a just settlement of outstanding disputes will help matters. But regardless of the motivation I don't think an act of this nature can be justified on the basis of a religion or ideology."
