Now that Google has removed the full list of application permissions from the Android apps listed on the Google Play Store, I wanted to do a quick video about it.
So if you are unaware, the Google Play Store has had an update recently that no longer displays the full permission list of applications and games. Instead, the company is relying on written descriptions from developers and the information is being put in this Data Safety section.
In theory, this could be a more user friendly method of displaying how your data is being used. . .but it can also be misleading or flat out false, though. Especially if Google doesn't have ways of verifying these things listed in the Data Safety section. Which it doesn't seem to be doing.
The app permissions may not be listed on the App Page of the Google Play Store anymore, but we can still see what these app permissions are if we have the application or game installed on our device. And that's what I want to show you today.
Settings - Apps - Permissions - All Permissions
Once here, we can see all of the technical bits of the Android application permission system. This is the data that is no longer being listed in the Google Play Store, and for some it can be vital to know exactly what permissions an application or game has access to on our device.
Let's hope Google puts this information back on the App Page of the Google Play Store. Even if it's not in a prominent location, so that everyone knows what permissions an app has before we even install it.
