Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said she was not contesting the Lok Sabha elections as she wanted to focus on campaigning for the party across the country. In an exclusive interview with India Today's Rajdeep Sardesai, Priyanka Gandhi said if both she and Rahul Gandhi contested the polls, it would be beneficial for the BJP.
"I have been campaigning in Raebareli for the past 15 days. The Gandhi family has an old relationship with Raebareli. So, people expect that we will come here and visit them and interact with them. We cannot win polls here through remote control," Priyanka Gandhi said.
Apart from Wayanad in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi is contesting from the family stronghold of Raebareli. The seat was represented by his mother, Sonia Gandhi, who moved to the Rajya Sabha earlier this year.
