"It is the first time I feel such a lack of enthusiasm (towards the campaign), first of all as a citizen. It is difficult to separate the cartoonist from the citizen, since anyway we react according to (who we are), our cartoons are a reflection of the person we are. So when we feel a lack of enthusiasm it shows in our cartoons. We still laugh, but I would have liked to be more eager."

STORYLINE:
The first round of the French presidential elections are less than three weeks away and once again the main candidates have become grist for political satire.
Fresh from its recent victory in the courts over its reprinting of the infamous cartoons of the prophet Mohammed, the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo has taken aim at the main presidential candidates.
Philippe Val who runs the newspaper called his paper's recent legal triumph a victory of believers in freedom of expression and it's with the same zeal that his cartoonists have gone after the top French presidential candidates, particularly Nicolas Sarkozy.
