Don Was Detroit All-Star Revue 2015
"Trans Euro Express" Amino Acids
In July 2015, some of Detroit's finest musicians gathered in tribute to the legendary Motor City Radio Host, Electrifying Mojo. During the late 70's and early 80's, Mojo's late night broadcast featured his unique blend of New Wave Rock n Roll, modern R&B and early Hip Hop. This incredibly popular show created a tightly-bonded community of listeners, drawn from diverse corners of Detroit, that transcended all the social and economic barriers dividing the city. By demonstrating that this broad audience was equally receptive to the new music of artists like Prince, The B52s and Grandmaster Flash, Mojo had a huge impact on the future of popular music. The songs performed on this show were all selected from his 1981 on-air playlists. Rumor has it that the elusive and enigmatic DJ was present in the hall for the entire concert.
