Croatian towns along the border with Eastern Slavonia are
preparing for what they fear will be the next flash point in the
Balkan war. In Vincovci, a few miles from the Serb frontlines,
Croatian residents spent Friday (11/8) putting up wooden
barricades and filling sandbags in front of homes and offices. The
town has been frequently shelled over the last few days, and
damage is apparent throughout the area. Doctors in the local
hospital have been forced to move most patients into the basement.
Many have been badly injured in the shelling.
