Stuart Weitzman began working in his father's shoe factory in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He returned to Haverhill to participate in the Soles of Haverhill project: a public art project involving 14 large fiberglass shoes pained by local artists. Sponsored by Team Haverhill and supported through generous donations from local business and organizations, the project raised money for the arts in Haverhill and reflects the vitality of a city deeply rooted in its history.
