Afiong the Proud Princess tells the story of a beautiful but vain princess who refuses to marry anyone from her kingdom, seeking only the most handsome prince from a faraway land. One day, she meets a stunning man who deceives her into marrying him, but he turns out to be a spirit with nothing but a skull for a body. Trapped in the spirit world, Afiong learns humility as she serves the spirit’s frail mother. In return for her kindness, the old woman helps Afiong escape and return home. Afiong finally understands the value of obedience and marries a prince from her own land, living happily ever after.
