Porto Lagos is a fishing village, 26 km from Xanthi in Thrace. It has a harbor with many fishing boats, yachts and the required infrastructure for hosting commercial vessels. The lush greenery of the grove next to the coast and the lagoon is a part of the wetland of the surrounded area as well as the Vistonida Lake, listed in the Natura 2000 Network, where visitors can admire many rare species of birds and rich flora. The village is known for the two small churches of Agios Nikolaos and Pantanassa, located on two islets in the middle of the lagoon, connected to each other and to the mainland with a wooden footbridge.
