Traders of old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk market are threatening to stage protests against the ongoing redevelopment project in the area. The shop owners are claiming that the redevelopment plan that was initiated last Saturday had affected the businesses of more than a hundred traders along the route. They further added that the plan was announced without any notice and has severely affected the movement of customers. In the first phase of the revamp, the authorities plan to place the utility lines above ground level inside the central verge. After completion, the historic stretch will be open only to non-motorised vehicles.
