A beginner V-stitch using Double Crochet is perfect for a first crochet project.
Use worsted or aran weight yarn and your work will grow quickly. I used a 4.0mm hook for a dense stitch but you can use a 5.00mm hook for a looser, more open tension.
Edge the blanket with 2 double crochet in each of the rows up the sides and one double crochet between each double along the bottom and top to give a really professional look.
