Since 1995, Carrig Conservation has been at the forefront of building conservation in Ireland. Their multidisciplinary team applies science and experience to architectural conservation, new building, energy retrofitting and specialist research. The lecture will explore some of the research, guidelines, and policies Carrig Conservation has been involved in. It will introduce the idea of “Live Laboratories” to improve building performance following sympathetic energy retrofitting.
Bio | Peter Cox (BEng, MSc, FRSA, Founding Member and Managing Director at Carrig Conservation International Ltd) is an expert in embodied and embedded carbon in existing buildings, and, since 2012, he has been President of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Energy, Sustainability & Climate Change. In 2019 Peter was elected a fellow of the Royal Society for Arts for services to conservation and sustainability. Peter sits on a number of international committees, working with Governments to improve legislation and policies on conservation in general and on energy efficiency in heritage and traditional building stock.
