#5worst, #worstcities
EIU looked at 172 cities all 6 continents out of about 10,000 compare the ranking. I don’t know where all the other 9,800 cities fall in this rating, if I must guess it probable somewhere in between. But I want to point out it is a very small # of cities.
I also want to know that now everyone experiences the city equally, certain part will be much nicer than the other.
EIU selected ranks these cities based on five areas: stability, healthcare, education, culture and the environment, and infrastructure. In this video we are looking at the 10 worse countries.
Karachi, Pakistan
Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan and the twelfth-largest city in the world with the population of over 11 milling people. It is also Pakistan's premier industrial and financial center. In the 1960s and 1970s, it was known as the "City of Lights" for its vibrant nightlife, now it is diminished to 5th worst city in the world. When you look at the rating you see an imbalance, Education score is at good level, 66.7, and infrastructure is in the middle 51.8, but Stability, Healthcare Culture & Environment scores are very low.
Main problem is lack of political and economical stability and immigration. Too many people with too little resources. Looting, traffic and lack of rules and regulations, health care are the other problems.
Algiers, Algeria
Algiers is the capital and largest city of Algeria with the metro population of 4.5 million people.
Algiers score closer to average in Culture & Environment and Education, but Stability, Healthcare and Infrastructure scores are pretty low. The city went through geo political Crisis in the 1990s and a terrorist groups have been actively operating in the city for the last 20 years.
Tripoli, Libya
Tripoli is the capital and largest city in Libya, with a population of about 1.2 million people.
Education and Infrastructure scores are 41, and Stability, Healthcare and Culture & Environment scores are in low 30s. Tripoli administration, the government has no real power, the city is controlled by militants Gaddafi may have died but his ghost still hounds Libya. People don’t feel safe especially women feel more threatened when they go out. Kidnappings for ransom are a constant threat. Other issues include high cost of living, lack of medicines, frequent power cuts
Lagos, Nigeria
Lagos is the largest city in Nigeria and the largest metropolitan area in Africa with a metro population of 28 million. Lagos is a major African financial centre, it is also the one of the top ten fastest-growing cities and urban areas in the world. Does it sound like a 2nd worst city? But it is. Some of biggest problems are high level of pollution, lack of Sanitation, Traffic congestion and large slums. It is reported that 65 percent of the people living in Lagos are urban poor who live in slums.
Damascus, Syria
Damascus is the capital of Syria, the oldest capital in the world and, according to some, the fourth holiest city in Islam. Population is about 2.5 million and the seat of the central government. It is one of the most affordable city in the world. The problem with Damascus is the civil war, it is deteriorating economy and causing food, fuel and electricity shortage. Damascus has consistently scored the lowest place on the list since 2013
