One Saint among the saints, Saint Anthony went marching this day June 11, 2024.
This video memorializes the moments when a traditional religious procession of a Roman Catholic Saint in the form of a statue is processed through the street of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
The solemn and gracious procession was organized, financed and carried out by Figli di La Madonna Addolorata, Inc. a non-profit group whose current President is Lucrezia Morangelli Nardulli. The Grand Marshal of this event was William ‘Bill’ Russo who created and produced this video.
“Known as the patron saint of the poor, of sailors and fishermen, of priests and travelers, a protector and guardian of the mails, and wonder-worker, the story of St. Anthony of Padua is very special.” - Franciscans Friars of the Atonement
Saint Anthony was born Fernando Martins de Bulhões; 15th August 1195 and died 13th June 1231.
“He was born and raised by a wealthy family in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua, Italy. Noted by his contemporaries for his powerful preaching, expert knowledge of scripture, and undying love and devotion to the poor and the sick, he was one of the most quickly canonized saints in church history, being canonized less than a year after his death.” - Wikipedia
