This is a very different variety of the very attractive Bird of Paradise compared to Strelitzia reginiae, and is now a specie in its own right. The leaves are very linear, and the flowers follow the tradition of the species. It grows in South Africa near Uitenhage, Patensie, and north of Port Elizabeth.
