May 14, 2004 - Just moments after having his potential game-tying layup erased off the window by New Jersey Nets high flyer Richard Jefferson, Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups sought and obtained immediate redemption by burying a buzzer-beating 43-footer to force overtime in Game 5 of the 2004 Eastern Conference Semi-finals.
Unable to capitalize off the sudden momentum shift, the Pistons ultimately fell in triple overtime, 127-120, yielding a 3-2 series lead to the Nets in the process. Billups, the only Pistons starter to not foul out, played 55 minutes and finished just two assists shy of a triple double, scoring 31 points (9-of-29 shooting), grabbing 10 rebounds, and completing 8 assists.
With their backs against the wall, the Pistons bounced back to win Game 6 in New Jersey before closing out the Nets with a 90-69 pummeling in Game 7 back at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
