Dear Viewers, DC supply is the heart of the sub-station.It is more reliable.control and protection of
lines and transformers of a sub-station depend on healthy DC supply system. DC supply consists of Cells and number of cells depends on operation voltage of loads like Trip coils,indication lamps,Relays etc. Regular checking of voltage, Specific gravity,acid level in one words health of Battery cells is needed regularly.To perform this checking one should know about Cell properties,its manufacturing,working principle,Chemical reactions with in cell during charging and discharging, what is its working Sp.Gravity,its Amp-hours capacity,rate of discharge,nos. of plates etc.
