The Solemnity of the Annunciation, celebrated on March 25th, exactly nine months before the birth of Jesus on Christmas day, commemorates the moment when the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary to reveal God's special mission for her: to become the mother of His only son, Jesus Christ.
The Annunciation of the Lord is the most significant event in the life of a Christian as it is the manifestation of God's love for us and His plan for our salvation.
Mary's obedience to God's plan is exemplary. Through His selection of a humble virgin to fulfill the greatest of all mysteries and graces, God shows that earthly crowns, honors, and riches hold no value to Him; true greatness is found only in perfect humility and sanctity.
This special feast is indeed a great reminder of the importance of faith and trust in God's plan for our lives; God's love for us and his plan for our salvation. Just as Mary trusted in God's plan for her life, we too must trust in God's plan for our lives. Let us always look to Our Blessed Mother in awe and celebration for her triumphant and selfless "Fiat."
