A flash mob, a sandwich eating contest and a pet adoption event might seem like quirky ways to celebrate turning 40, but for Erik's DeliCafé, they make perfect sense. The company celebrated its 40th Anniversary by donating 50 percent of the net proceeds from three of its Santa Cruz area locations to three local nonprofits, Sept. 16 -- 18, 2013.
