During our trip to the 2012 AABP Conference in Montreal we hosted a video contest to give away 2 Easi-Scan ultrasound systems. The winner is Christina Park. Christina is a 4th year veterinary student at North Carolina State University.
Christina had this to say about her win:
"As a veterinary student interested in food animals who did not grow up on a farm, I spend most of my free time trying to gain experience with cattle. At North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, we as students have some great opportunities to have hands on labs with bovine palpation and ultrasound use with our ruminant faculty. I had the opportunity to be a part of the bovine palpation team as a second year student. As a team, we attended and delivered bovine reproduction lectures and palpated cows at our school herds. We went on to compete at the Student Chapter of the AVMA's yearly palpation competition and our team won third place. It was a great opportunity and taught me the importance of gaining experience with palpation and ultrasound before going out into practice.
With the Easi-scan in hand, my classmates and I will be able to practice using ultrasound diagnostics before graduation which will grant us some confidence in using ultrasound while we still have professors who can train and teach us in the latest techniques which will help us to be more prepared to enter general practice. My goals are to practice assessing large animal reproductive tracts as well as become familiar with other applications for the Easi-Scan, such as equine applications, and abdominal imaging in large and small animals. Thanks BCF!"
