Cheap and common for Bulgaria combination sharpening stone with marble and sedimentary shale sides.

I am not aware of the abrasive qualities of the marble but from trying it out I can conclude that they are mediocre at best but it is better to have it than have a dull knife.

What about the shale - It works, but it is slow, and very soft and is far from other natural stones but is cheap and it is available.

I have several others shale stones which I use with water but in this case I decided to try it out with some mineral oil - it works and if you are careful it is not so messy as you think.

Still I prefer water than oil.
