Ep. 96 MAKING A MOSAIC STEPPING STONE, a Blue Mosaic Butterfly & Foliage for the Mosaic Sunflowers!
I finish piecing the simple mosaic stepping stone with blue mirror and chartreuse glass using GE Silicone. To see the start of this project: [ Ссылка ]
Then I tackle a mosaic challenge butterfly using some donated tesserae on a pre-cut butterfly base purchased at JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts. It has been prepped with black spray paint and hanging hardware prior to starting. I use Weldbond for the flat areas and Apoxie Sculpt as the adhesive in the recessed areas to attach all kinds of blue beads and cabochons. After selecting a special head piece, the body is built up with Apoxie Sculpt and covered in beads. It still seems a bit sparce to me, so I add more beads, this time with E6000 next to the recessed areas just to bring more color to the butterfly wings. The next step is to spray with a Rustoleum Glass Clear sealer to secure the beads and even out the background to a gloss finish. Then I give myself an evaluation.
Onward to the amazing Sunflowers mosaic, which I've been wanting to dive into all week! The leaves are cut by segment and divided into reasonable sizes using angled cuts. Deep forest green glass is used in the background leaves while leaves in the foreground are much lighter. Blues are brought in to match the hues and tie in the sky. I show how I use contact paper to cut the segment shapes using the same technique I used in this video to cut the butterfly segments: [ Ссылка ]
