How do we greet in Korean?
have you ever seen people greet each other on K-drama or SNS?
It usually starts with annyeonghaseyo or annyeong
But what is the difference?
annyeonghaseyo is used to greet elders/seniors.
annyeong is used to greet friends/juniors
Then how should we position ourselves?
annyeonghaseyo you make eye contact and bow down your neck.
30 degrees is normal
15 degrees is for tight space or if you are familiar with them
45 degrees is for formal, thankful, or apologetic situations
annyeong you wave by showing the palm of your hands
How do we do goodbyes?
It is the same as greeting
Except when Elder/Senior is leaving we use annyeonghigaseyo , when you are leaving we use annyeonghigyeseyo
But what if a Korean person asked you let's meet or let's have a meal next time ?
Do you expect to think , when? what should we eat ?
It can mean a literal question or sometimes used just for greeting
The way to distinguish is when they actually contact you and make plans, if not it was just one of the greetings.
