Description:
In this video we'll have a look on what I think is the most complex maritime border dispute. Six different countries are claiming the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. This is possible because China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and Brunei are all claiming EEZ zones that conflicts with each others.
The main reason they all want these islands so bad is because of the oil resources located there and also because these islands can be an important outpost in the SOuth China Sea. Controllin this place will allow the projection of control over the trading routes in the South China Sea.
But we'll talk more about all of this in this video, so make sure you do not miss it.
Feel free to write your opinion about this in the commnets.
Hope you'll enjoy the video!

All these countries claim this islands. But how is that possible?
This is the EEZ of Brunei, which seem to be according to the EEZ definition, but here is the claimed EEZ of Malaysia, which overlaps Brunei’s EEZ.
Looking at the Philippines we see that they claim this area as being their EEZ. Vietnam claimed EEZ also conflicts with Brunei, Malaysia and The Philippines.
But here comes the odd part, because the claimed EEZs of both China and Taiwan, which are identical, conflict with all the other 4 countries.
At the intersection of all these claims are the Spratly Islands. To enforce their claim, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam created military bases on different parts of the islands.
The reason all these countries wants this islands so bad is because their location. Whoever controls them, can also control the trading routes through the South China Sea which represents one thirds of the global trade.
